Today's pattern is Goldeen from Pokemon! At this rate I feel like I'm going to have a pattern for every Pokemon on Misty's team. There's just so many good water type Pokemon designs that translate well into crochet!
This pattern looks a lot harder than it actually is! The lovely fluttering effect on the fins is made with color work by switching between working in rows and rounds. I included extra photos to clearly illustrate what I'm describing in the pattern, so I hope you give it a try!
Materials
-Yarn.
Use a worsted or aran weight in a material of your choice. I use
acrylic for my doll patterns due to its firm weave for extra structure, but you may use any material you wish. You
will need:
For regular Goldeen: (A) ~100m of white, (B) ~25m of red, (C) ~25m of coral pink, (D) ~10m light pink
For regular Goldeen: (A) ~100m of white, (B) ~25m of red, (C) ~25m of coral pink, (D) ~10m light pink
For shiny Goldeen:(A) ~100m of white, (B) ~25m of orange, (C) ~25m of gold (D) ~10m light orange
-5.0 mm (size H) crochet hook
-Fiberfill
or crafting scraps for stuffing
-Yarn needle
-Pins
-Scraps of yarn for round markers
-Materials
to make the details on the face using the method of your choice. You
can glue or sew on fabric or felt scraps, embroider them on, or needle
felt them. I used needle felting with yarn and wool roving in the doll pictured.
Gauge
Gauge is not important for this work. With the given yarn and hook
size, the finished doll will stand about 6 inches (15 cm) in height;
adjust yarn and/or hook size if a bigger or smaller doll is desired.
Just make sure your stitches are of a consistent size and tightness.
Notation (US crochet)
ch: chain
st: stitch
sc: single crochet
hdc: half-double crochet
dc: double crochet
slst: slip stitch
inc: increase stitch (perform 2 sc in the next stitch)
dc inc: double crochet increase stitch (perform 2 dc in the next stitch)
dec:
decrease stitch (insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull
through the stitch. Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull
through first loop. Yarn over again, pull through all 3 loops on hook.)

4. Use a whip stitch to attach the tail and pectoral fins to the body.
6. Add the finishing details to Goldeen's eyes using your material and methods of choice. I used needle felting with wool roving, but you can also use felt strips, etc.
